In today's world the computer and appropriate software can be used to enhance the early childhood education curriculum. There are countless programs on the Internet as well as off the shelf programs available for this purpose. These programs are interactive and give verbal instructions to kids, who at this age, cannot read as yet. These programs present topics such as the alphabet, colors, shapes and numbers etc in a manner that is fun, exciting and stimulating for young minds. As a result kids learn what is taught at a faster rate.

My daughter started using the computer at age three and a half. She uses mainly educational software available on the Internet as well as educational CDs that I purchased. Since then she has shown steady improvement in mouse control skill, listening comprehension, speaking and even word recognition. She has developed a love for learning and now prefers to be on the computer than to watch the TV. I can definitively say that using the computer at this early age has benefited her tremendously an...
