Computer Related Tips- If you don't have a chair with adjustable height, you can raise
the height of the chair for your child by placing a telephone directory
or thick book on the chair for your child to sit on.
- Don't
let your child sit by the computer for hours without taking a break.
They need to break for 15 minutes in every hour and to look away from the screen every 15
minutes.
- Place a picture of your child's favorite TV
character 20 feet away from the computer for you child to look at
briefly every 15 minutes while using the computer.
- A good way to encourage your child to take a
break from the computer is for you to print a coloring page from your
child's favorite website and let them sit at a table to color it.
- Breaking for a snack is another way to get your child to take a break. Give them some milk and cookies or a fruit.
- Exercise
is another activity that you child can do when taking a break from the
computer. Stretching exercises, hands up, out and down or even a little
running or jumping can help to exercise different muscles of his/her
body.
- Don't allow children to touch the computer screen with their fingers, pens or pencils as this could damage the screen.
- Do not allow your child to eat or drink at the computer. Always let them wash their hands before using the computer
- If the music from the computer games that the child is playing is annoying you, you can purchase headphones for use.
- Do not place a computer or television in your child's bedroom. It is best to locate them where you can easily monitor what they are watching and doing.
